If its true love you will know, if its infactuation you will know too. If he is better informed that will save the two of you a serious heartbreak down the road.
My advice.....just ask him his opinion on something similar...gauge his reaction.....but ultimately, you have to tell him....it will hurt and he may run away......It is always difficult for a man, but for my own candid opinion, keep it to yourself joo......what a man don't know, don't hurt....When u get to the bridge that he finds out......then u will deal with it............
