There is no doubt that almost all humans are now enjoying online communication. Infact, research has it that the facebook has over 800 millions users! Imagine that. But as much as we know that everything that has advantage will also have its disadvantage, it is then obvious that online communication will also have its disadvantages that if care is not taken can have painful effect on us.
But the goodnews is that the bible contains principles that can protect you from online dangers. Perhaps you are suprised, check these biblical principles out:
PRIVACY - If you did not put limitation to your level of privacy the bible @ Proverbs 10:19 says it can be disastrous. ( too many words can be dangerous, but keeping your thought under control is wise) So becareful when you post informations, photos and address online.
TIME - Philipians 1:10 has it that Spending too much time chatting online can cost you other important aspect of your life such as family, Job, and even time to pray and move closer to God. So make good use of your time.
REPUTATION - Proverbs 22: says a good reputation is better that silver or gold. The kind of info and photo you post online can give a wrong impression of you to others, so be selective of words and images you use online.
FRIENDSHIPS - Proverbs 13:20 also says if you make friends with wise persons, you will be seen as such but if you make friend with bad ones it is vice-versa. Imagine a single person having over a thousand of friend online most of whom has never been met with physically. Many people have fallen victims of the so called yahoo-yahoo curtesy of say they dont know whom they are keeping as friends.
ENTERTAINMENT - @ Job 31:1 Job made a covenant with his eyes so as not to see worthless things. The kind of video image and information we see online can have weighty effect on our thought and way of life. So we should select our choice of entertainment wisely.
