President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday, said that he would place greater interests of national unity, harmony, and cohesion before giving appropriate response on the calls by various groups and individuals for him to contest the 2015 election. This was contained in his Eid-El-Kabir message to Nigerians.

Jonathan’s message reads in part, ‘’I greet and felicitate with all our countrymen and women of the Islamic faith as we celebrate this year’s Eid-El-Kabir.

‘’Let us offer special prayers for greater security, peace, unity and progress in our dear country as well as for the peaceful and successful conduct of next year’s general elections.

‘’As we celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir, let us also rededicate and commit ourselves to the Holy Prophet’s injunctions of piety, honesty, charity and generosity to the less privileged, impartial leadership and true justice for all.

Atiku charges Muslims on due diligence

However, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged Muslims across the country to in the spirit of this year’s Eid-el- Kabir, adhere to  procedure of due diligence before entering into contractual agreements.

In his Sallah message to Nigerians yesterday, Atiku who is a Presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC stressed that observance of due process was quite  imperative if  progress must emerge.

According to him, “I rejoice with fellow Muslims across the country to celebrate the Eid-el-kabir festival. The significance of the celebration today is not in the blood or the flesh of the rams that are slaughtered. The  message is for people to be honour bound to respect the terms of the promises made to other entities.
Mark, Tambuwal, Ihedioha call for unity among Nigerians

Senate President, Senator David Mark has appealed to Nigerians to always accommodate one another and live in peace and unity for the overall good of the citizenry.

Senator Mark in his goodwill Sallah message to Muslims said it was inevitable to maintain a harmonious relationship with one another irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliation.

The Speaker and deputy speaker, House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, have also urged leaders at all levels to make necessary sacrifices that will enhance unity and national cohesion.

According to the Speaker, the period of Eid-el-Kabir provides a new opportunity to show love and compassion especially for the less privileged.

The Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha also called on all Nigerians to renew belief in the Nigeria project and show greater patriotism in order to accelerate national growth and development.

Ihedioha  said the significance of the festivities should not be lost on citizens as the period offers an opportunity to show love and generosity to family, friends, neighbors and even the less privileged.

FCTA:  Minister urges prayer against Boko Haram, for 2015
In his Sallah message yesterday, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Senator Bala Usman asked  Muslims to pray for the successful conduct of the forthcoming general elections as well as continue to support the Federal Government in its desire to make the general elections free and fair throughout the country.

The  Minister while felicitating with the Muslim faithful, appealed to Muslims to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice as well as leaving in peace with one another.
According to him, Nigerians must  reflect on the lessons of the festival and the teachings of the doctrine of Islamic faith, premised on sacrifice and peace respectively.
Lagos: Fashola preaches unity, peaceful coexistence

•Offers free ride to Lagosians today

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has advocated unity, peaceful co-existence, cleanliness and rule of law as the most viable means of building a virile and prosperous nation just as the state government declared free bus ride to over 10, 000 residents today as part of measure to ease movement of commuters during today’s sallah celebration across the State.

Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, said commuters along the Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, routes would enjoy free ride from Mile 12 to CMS while those on the Bus Franchise Scheme, BFS, would ride free on Ikotun-Igando-Iyana-Ipaja-Ikeja.

In his goodwill message to residents, Fashola maintained that it was only in the atmosphere of peaceful and harmonious co-existence that development and progress could be guaranteed adding that the most important string that binds the people together is the common humanity.

The governor, who argued that the two great world religions, Christianity and Islam, both preach peace and harmony as the only condition for closeness to God adding that the nation, more than anything else, needed  them at this period in her history to consolidate the gains of her democracy.

“Peaceful and harmonious co-existence cannot be more relevant at any other time in our history than today when we need all hands on deck to build an enduring democracy; an egalitarian society where every citizen will have the opportunity to attain his or her potentials in life”, he said.

Fashola noted that Nigeria is greatly challenged today by the attitude of its citizens to the rule of law stressing that without adherence to the rule of law, the sustenance of her democracy could not be guaranteed.

Kogi too offers free bus service

Kogi State Government has also offered free bus service for today’s Sallah in Lokoja, the State capital. The free bus service was contained in a Press statement signed by the State Commissioner for Transport, Abdulrahman Wuya.

According to the statement, “His Excellency, the Governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Wada, has approved a free bus service, from 8.00am to 6.00pm on Saturday, 4th October 2014 to mark the celebration of Sallah “The management of the Lokoja City Bus Service (Lokoja Metro) has been directed to offer free services to all commuters accordingly”. The Sallah Free bus service is the first of its kind since the creation of the State since 1991.

Ekiti:Let peace reign in Nigeria—Fayose
Ekiti State governor-elect, Dr Peter Ayodele Fayose in his sallah message urged Muslim faithful as well as Nigeriansof other faiths to seize the period to embrace brotherliness and allow peace to reign in the country.

Fayose said Nigeria had come to stay as an indivisible entity and that as such, every citizen of the country, irrespective of their religion or tribe, should be involved in all religious celebrations of his or her fellow citizens.

Osun: Aregbesola tasks them on nation building

Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has congratulated the Muslim Ummah across the country on this year’s Eid el-Kabir festival.

In a Sallah statement on behalf of the Governor by the Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, Aregbesola said Muslims should use the period to reflect on the state of the nation.

Quoting the tradition of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBOH) which said ‘the love of one’s nation is part of one’s belief,’ the Governor said Nigerians must resolve on how to move the nation of out its current multifarious challenges and take it to a greater height.

He said both the leaders and the led have a task that must be performed for the country to move forward, saying now is the time to contribute their quota to its progress so as for all and sundry to benefit from a prosperous nation.

JUST TELL MUSLIMS,,,BECAUSE ALL THE MUSLIMS ARE THE SAME,NON OF THEM ARE DIFFERENT,WHEN YOU SAID MUSLIM,ALL OF THEM HAVE THE SAME EVIL SPIRIT,TO DO BAD IS THE ONLY THING THAT MUSLIMS KNOW HOW TO DO,TO DESTROY IS THE ONLY THING THAT MUSLIMS KNOW HOW TO DO...CHECK ALL THE MUSLIMS IN THE WORLD,NOTHING GOOD WILL EVER COME FROM THEM,ONLY FIGHT AND KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE.  ATIKU SHOULD PREACH TO HIS BROTHER BOKO HARAM TO STOP KILLING
