A new tactics adopted by dreaded Boko Haram terrorists to be getting fuel from motorists have been discovered by security operatives. The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps has discovered a baffling method used by motorists to supply fuel to Boko Haram terrorists in the Borno state.

Speaking at a press conference in Maiduguri on Tuesday, the Borno State Commander of the security outfit, Abdullahi Ibrahim, said the fuel supply to the insurgents was cut off by his command during its recent operation along the fringes of Sambisa Forest.

Revealing the latest tactics, Ibrahim said some commercial vehicles plying Maiduguri-Damboa-Biu highway devised the tactics of filling kegs with petrol and wrap them in a sack, after which they drop it at designated spots on the road where the insurgents pick them up and drop their money.

Ibrahim, who regretted that they were not able to catch any suspect in the act as they took to their heels on sighting men of his command, showed some of the kegs filled with petrol wrapped in sacks to journalists.

The Command also paraded to journalists, a land scammer, Alhaji Babakaka Baitu who he alleged to have duped unsuspecting members of the public of over N20m.

He said though Baitu has been on the radar of the security for nine months, it had been difficult to arrest him as he kept changing residence within Maiduguri.

Ibrahim said since the arrest of Baitu, land scam has reduced in Borno State.

He said,
Quote
“Baitu is a serial land scammer, the ringleader of land scam in Borno State and since his arrest land scamming has reduced in the state.”

He alleged that he has been scamming on both federal and state land and at a point in time jumped bail.

Also paraded were four thieves of sheeps, who had as their ringleader, Mohammed Ali, an internally displaced person residing in one of the IDP camps in Maiduguri.

They were accused to have been in the habits of stealing rams and sleeps from Maiduguri metropolis and were recently caught with four sheep.
