Gombe To Construct 3 Almajiri Schools

In an effort to re-orientate the local Almajiri Islamic educational system and stop street begging in the state, Gombe State government through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), is set to complete the construction of two model Almajiri Islamic Schools in Nafada and Yamaltu-Deba local government.

Similarly, the government has allocated a plot of land to the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to build one within the state capital.

Executive Chairman, Gombe SUBEB, Prof. Muhammed Gurama disclosed this in an interactive session with journalists in his office in Gombe, yesterday.

He said the state governor; Ibrahim Dankwambo had complemented the effort of the federal government intervention by providing the Almajiri Islamic Schools with standard equipment and structures that could compete with other model educational institutions.

Gurama, noted that, the board had recruited about 1000 teachers who would be deployed to over 20 model schools including Almajiri schools and nomadic primary schools.
