ABOUT six persons, including an undergraduate of a Benin Republic university and the chairman of Ojuelegba branch of tricycle operators, have lost their lives in the ongoing cult war in Mushin and Ojuelegba areas of Lagos State.

The undergraduate, Adeolu Otenaike, a student of North American University in Benin Republic was last week hacked to death by suspected cultists, who invaded a bar around Railway Line in Empire area of the state.

The tricycle operators' chairman was also shot and killed around Ojuelegba, in what could be a reprisal attack from one of the factions of the cult members.

A resident of Mushin, who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune under condition of anonymity stated that Eiye, Aiye and Black Axe confraternities have in the last few weeks being at loggerheads.

The deceased undergraduate had taken some of his friends to a bar around Empire in Mushin, to celebrate the acquisition of a new car, when he was killed.

However, there were reports that the deceased undergraduate might have fraternized with one of the warring cult groups, some years back.

Another resident told the Nigerian Tribune that four other persons were killed at Adeyemi, Olosa, Martins and Fadeyi.

The image maker in charge of the state police command, Ngozi Braide, while speaking with newsmen, denied any knowledge of the killing in Empire area.

Meanwhile, residents of Aponmode area of Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State, were, on Friday last week, thrown into shock, as they beheld the dangling body of 15-year-old Alamu Daniel, after he committed suicide in his father's house.

The teenager, a senior secondary school (SSS) One student of Aponmode High School, Moniya, was said to have hung himself at about 11.00 a.m, after he left the school premises for one of the uncompleted rooms in his father's house.

His teachers and colleagues were reportedly shocked by the incident, especially because the deceased was still in school that day and even played football with his mates shortly before he went home to commit suicide.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that Daniel took an excuse from his colleagues, saying that he wanted to pick something from home which was not far from school.

The teenager reportedly hanged himself in the same clothes he wore while playing football, while his mates reportedly heard of the incident few minutes after he had left them.

When contacted, the state Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Mr Clement Adoda, confirmed the story, describing it as unfortunate.
