JOHANNESBURG —  South African women married to Nigerians, yesterday, threatened to stage mass protest in Johannesburg to stop discrimination against them, their husbands and children.

Mrs Lindelwa Uche, the chairperson of the United Nigerian Wives in South Africa, UNWISA, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria during the launch of the association, Sunday, in Johannesburg.

Uche said that South African society did not take their marriage to Nigerians as serious relationships.

We really have let ourselves down. When we have thieves and scoundrels messing our beloved Nigeria up both in Nigeria and abroad, no one thinks of the consequences it leaves behind on the innocent Nigerians.

Just as all Moslems are condemned all over the world because of the actions of a few so likewise is Nigeria - our great country being ridiculed.

When a Nigerian marries a foreigner, the first thing that jumps to everyone's mind is - he /she is looking for legal papers to stay in the country of the spouse. Let's be honest most of us think this.

Currently Nigerians are blamed for most drug offences taking place in SA. is this justified? Do the SA authorities keep records of arrested drug dealers and statistics show we are the main culprits. Do all people arrested in SA and bearing Nigerian names - are they really  Nigerians or bearing false names?

We now have the £3000 deposit to pay if we travel to England.Again due to the unscrupulous Nigerians who travel out and 'forget' to return!

The Nigeria government has to fight for the Nigerians who are hardworking and make honesty their policy. We should expect no less from our government after all they are the highest paid politicians in the world. And this is a fact.
