A teenage girl, Chidima Sunday, was on Tuesday charged before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly attempting to kill a man, Francis Ikemefuna, by stabbing him. Chidima, 18, is standing trial on a four-count charge of felony, assault, threat and attempted murder. The prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, told the court that the accused had on May 6 at 8:30 p.m. at 14, Hyacinth Madueke, Abulu-Ado in Ojo area of Lagos, committed the offences. “The accused had on the said date attempted to kill Francis Ikemefuna by stabbing him with a kitchen knife. “Similarly, Chidima assaulted Ikemefuna thereby causing him serious injuries on his left leg with intent to kill him,” he said. Eze noted that the offences contravened Sections 56, 171, 228, and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The teenager pleaded not guilty to the charges. Ruling on the bail application of the accused, the Magistrate, Mr Teslimi Shomade, granted her bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in the like sum. In addition, he said the sureties, who should be the blood relations of the accused, should provide a two-year tax clearance. The case was adjourned to June 26 for mention.

Stabbing the leg might mean self defense, it can become dangerous when the stabbing ruptures a blood vessel. And how many times did she stab the man, the more time she stab, means she was dangerous really.

Her case is not as terrible like the other time on naijapals there was a news where a girl stab her brother to death, after her brother won a physical battle about who should wash the plate, in that case it can be established that after their fathers death, since the girl was the first born she took the role of master of the house, and added to that her ego was high like the sky, mixed with tactlessness, in this present case, the details are not clear, what caused the stabbing.

When people kill, they might be empowered by ego, belief or a sense of invincibility, at the moment when they kill, they feel they have gained what was lost, it could be honour, pride or a sense of power, whatever, but after killing, the true evil ones will like to do it again, while the one that were living according to the heat of the moment will feel so sorry, now which ever one, the Nigerian legal system may not care, and I feel sorry for the murderer and the victim, God will see them true.

Women who commit crime and who end in prison do not deserve rape, they deserve to be confined, where they loss their freedom, and think about what they have done, in case serious crimes are committed, they can be locked away for life, especially when they love crime and will do it again.
