A 19-year-old boy, Junior Omo Shaba, has been arrested by the police in Edo State for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death. He had also dumped the corpse by a roadside in Benin City, the state capital. The girl identified as Matilda Odiri, aged 18 years was stabbed to death inside the boyfriend’s room at 2, Akugbe Street, off Siluko road, Ogida, Benin on Saturday. Matilda was said to have gone to her boyfriend’s house to pass the night when the boyfriend stabbed her with a knife on her right upper Bosom .
The suspect now in police custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Benin City, was said to have killed her about 11pm when she accused him of having an affair with another girl. Police said the boy had in his confessional statement admitted that he murdered his lover and dumped her body on the street to cover his evil deed following an argument between two of them at night.
The girl was alleged to have expressed resentment over her boyfriend’s returning home late, that he was already keeping another girl outside. Police also stated that the suspect admitted to have killed his girlfriend with a knife which she used to peel some oranges they took that night.
