A man who r.a.p.e.d and murdered a two-year-old girl will be put to death, India's Supreme Court has ruled.
The offence happened in March 2012 in Jalna in Maharashtra. In a 2-1 majority judgement the court ruled that this was a case where
The court heard the
"The appellant instead of showing fatherly love, affection and protection to the child against the evils of the society, rather made her the victim of lust,"
"The appellant meticulously executed his nefarious design by locking one door of his house from the outside and bolting the other one from the inside so as to deceive people into believing that nobody was inside.
"The appellant was thus in his full senses while he indulged in this senseless act,"
However one justice dissented and opined that case was based on circumstantial evidence and said that death sentence imposed on the appellant is modified to life imprisonment with no chance of parole.
According to the prosecution, a missing complaint was filed by the girl's father in March 2012 and when the police reached at the residence of Ravi, the doors were found to be locked.
When the police broke open the door, he was found there and the girl was lying in an unconscious condition.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was declared dead by doctors.
