
Two people were on Saturday crushed to death by a truck while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries in an auto crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The New Telegraph learnt that the accident, which involved a Mack truck and a Toyota Hiace bus, occurred at Lenuwa, new Makun on the expressway.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the accident to journalists in Abeokuta Saturday.
The TRACE PRO explained that the accident occurred at 6am and it involved a Mack truck marked AKD 549 XL and a commercial Toyota bus with registration number KSF 259 CQ.
Akinbiyi disclosed that the accident was caused by brake failure on the part of the truck, leading to loss of control as a result of which the truck rammed into the bus in its front.
He said that four men were involved in the accident, two of them died while the other two were injured.
Akinbiyi explained that the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of Idera Hospital, Sagamu while the injured were receiving treatment at the same hospital.
He said that the driver of the truck ran away from the scene of the crash to avoid being lynched.
He commiserated with the families of the deceased.
Akinbiyi urged articulated vehicle drivers to ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles and avoid speeding as well as dangerous driving.
