Some people who are eager to get registered in Osun State have resorted to the use of ice blocks to enable the DDC machine quickly capture their finger prints.

Our correspondent reports that the potential voters now place their hands on ice blocks for a while before placing it on the scanner. Already, some of the voters say the method is producing satisfactory results, making more people to adopt the system. There has yet been no word from INEC officials on its efficacy, or whether the commission would encourage its spread across the country to speed up the exercise. In another development,  a man was arrested yesterday in Ile-Ife, Osun State, while attempting to snatch an INEC DDC machine, just as the commission registered over 172, 000 persons in the state.

Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Ambassador Oloruntoyin Akeju, disclosed this in Osogbo while briefing newsmen on the registration exercise. He said nemesis caught up with the man when he snatched the machine in Ife Central. Akeju said the suspect who had been handed over to the police would be made to face the law, adding that over 172, 000 persons have been registered by the commission. The REC called on political parties that may want to monitor the exercise to send their agents to the commission for accreditation.

Ice block ke... why will they buy sub-standard DDC machine in d first place? Instead of them to put d blame on themselves for purchasing sub-standard machine they re blaming it on innocent coppers. Will Nigeria ever be good?

That is right, the manufacturers should be blame in this case. They must be stupid to have supply machines meant for cold countries to a hot country like 9ja.
