CP Bethrand C. Onuoha, the Kogi Commissioner of Police has called for a thorough probe into the attack on an officer at a political rally in the state. The Kogi Police spokesperson, William Ovye Aya, late Thursday night disclosed this in a statement over the trending video. The police officer was seen in the video in a pool of his own blood as a result of the political clash in the Idah area of Kogi state.

“The Commissioner of Police while condemning the incident noted that the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department has been tasked to commence investigation,” Aya said. The spokesperson added that the CP has reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to continue to engage the critical stakeholders in Election Security Management to ensure a secure environment for the electoral process. He added that the Police are determined to provide a level playing ground for all political parties as they embark on campaigns, rallies, and processions among others.
