Afrobeat (Fela) is in essence different from Afrobeats.  Fela's  was a solid combination of jazz and African rhythms, mostly highlife. The real definition of today's Afrobeats ( with s) is actually "Afro Pop", i.e. a unique version of pop(popular) music improvised by highly talented African youth, to rival Western pop music. It is an experiment in the right direction, they need to look out for the schisms and chasms which belabor and eventually submerge every laudable African initiative.
