Police Neutralize Suspected Armed Robber, Ifeanyichukwu Ilegalu Arrest Accomplice In Nasarawa

In a decisive move to combat crime in the Mararaba area of Karu Local Government, the Nasarawa State Police Command has reported the neutralization of a suspected armed robber, identified as Ifeanyichukwu Ilegalu, during a robbery operation.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, on Saturday, April 6, the arrest was part of a coordinated effort to enhance community policing strategies in the region, spearheaded by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada.

The police received intelligence on April 5 regarding the activities of a gang of armed robbers terrorizing residents of Aso pada, Mararaba area. Acting swiftly on the information, law enforcement operatives, in collaboration with vigilant community members, pursued the criminals, resulting in the apprehension of one suspect and the unfortunate demise of another during a confrontation.

DSP Nansel affirmed that Edache Joseph, who was captured alongside Ilegalu, is currently in custody and providing valuable information to aid ongoing investigations.

Commending the bravery and collaboration of the police, vigilante groups, and community members in thwarting criminal activities, CP Umar Shehu Nadada pledged continued support for efforts to maintain peace and security in the state. He urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement authorities to rid the state of criminal elements.

The successful operation underscores the commitment of the Nasarawa State Police Command to uphold law and order, serving as a testament to the effectiveness of community policing initiatives in tackling crime and ensuring the safety of residents.
