The councillor representing Enuagu ward in the Onicha legislative council, Stanley Akpa Nweze and the coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Onicha LGA chapter, Arinze Joshua Ugochukwu, have reportedly been killed by gunmen.
They were attacked and killed on Monday, June 3, by gunmen at the Amanator axis of the Isu community. The duo were on a bike ride to Isu village when the hoodlums accosted them and shot them on the spot severally and ensured they were dead before leaving the scene.
The gunmen were said to have also shot into the air sporadically to scare away passers-by before zooming off into the nearby forest.
Chairman of Onicha local government council, Chidiebere Uzor Agwu, who confirmed the incident, expressed shock over the sad incident. He called on security agencies to do everything within their powers to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.
