In a shocking incident that has gripped the community of Inisa in Osun State, two elderly friends, Ali Baba, a Ghanaian in his sixties, and Kayode Olete, aged 52, were discovered lying lifeless in pools of their own blood after a violent altercation late on Thursday.

The incident occurred within the confines of their residence at Okunoye compound, where the two men reportedly engaged in a fierce fight that resulted in fatal injuries.

Ismail Odewale, a resident in the area, recounted the sequence of events: "Passersby heard commotion coming from the isolated house where Ali Baba and Kayode Olete lived. Due to their reputation for resolving disputes amicably, no one initially intervened. However, shortly after, onlookers noticed blood seeping out from the house, prompting them to raise the alarm."

Upon arriving at the scene, residents discovered the two men lying motionless, their bodies surrounded by pools of blood. Law enforcement was immediately contacted.

Confirming the tragic incident, Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State, revealed that the men had already succumbed to their injuries by the time officers arrived.

"We received a distress call on Thursday evening about a fight between two individuals at Baale Okunoye Compound, Inisa," Adeleke stated. "Upon investigation, it was determined that Ali Baba and Kayode Olete, despite being close friends, engaged in a violent altercation. They inflicted severe wounds on each other using a cutlass and a machete, resulting in fatal injuries."

She further explained, "The house where the incident occurred is isolated and dilapidated, making it difficult to ascertain what triggered the fight. Both men sustained grave injuries, including visible wounds to their stomachs where their intestines were protruding."

Adeleke confirmed that the families of the deceased were contacted, and arrangements were made for their burial in accordance with their wishes.

The tragic incident has left the community of Inisa in shock, prompting reflections on the circumstances that led to the deadly altercation between two longtime friends.
