The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted substantial quantities of cocaine and opioids, including tramadol, pentazocine injection, morphine sulphate, and ketamine injection, concealed in shoe soles and clothing. The contraband was bound for destinations in the United States, United Kingdom, and Cyprus.
The NDLEA disclosed that over five kilograms of opioids destined for the US and UK were discovered hidden in clothes and other household items intended for shipment through various courier firms in Lagos. Additionally, approximately 250 grams of cocaine, concealed in the soles of custom-made shoes, was intercepted en route to Cyprus.
The agency's Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, announced the seizure on Sunday. He noted that the operation was conducted by officers from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigations (DOGI).
In a related development, the NDLEA also intercepted a consignment of 440 grams of Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, which was being shipped from Canada to Lagos through a logistics company.
The NDLEA's continued vigilance underscores its commitment to curbing the trafficking of illegal drugs and maintaining public safety.
