Veteran Nollywood actress turned politician, Hilda Dokubo, has firmly denied claims that she was suspended as a member of the Labour Party (LP) in Rivers State.

Dokubo, who serves as the LP chairperson in Rivers State, was reportedly suspended on Thursday by the party’s ward executive committee over alleged financial misconduct. However, she refuted these allegations in a viral video posted on Instagram.

"I was never suspended," Dokubo asserted. "Everyone mentioned in that publication is not a member of the Labour Party. The LP has a register and knows all its members, especially in the Asari Toru community. These are PDP boys carrying out the instructions of their master."

Dokubo questioned the motives behind the accusations, highlighting her unblemished career in Nollywood and her decade-long work with international organizations. "I have worked in Nollywood for over 30 years without any scandal or blemish. My work is rooted in integrity and honor, which are thoroughly investigated before any job is assigned."

She described the situation as an example of corruption pushing back against her refusal to be bribed or threatened. "We are currently revalidating membership and registering new members to strengthen our wards. This attempt to discredit me is a result of my refusal to engage in corrupt practices."

Dokubo clarified her role within the party, emphasizing that she has no dealings with party finances. "I am the chairman of the party in Rivers State, not the financial secretary or treasurer. I am not even an executive member of Ward 3. The accusations are baseless and unfounded."

The actress turned politician concluded her statement by reaffirming her commitment to integrity and transparency in her political endeavors.
