Popular British-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori has unveiled a striking 23-foot-tall installation at London’s iconic Piccadilly Circus.
The artwork, titled “Good Things Come To Those Who Wait,” is inspired by Greek mythology and draws heavily on the figure of Anteros, the Greek god of requited love.
The installation is located on the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain, a landmark erected in the late 19th century in memory of Anthony Ashley Cooper, the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury, known for his philanthropic work.
Ilori’s creation features winged sculptures reminiscent of Anteros, perched on vibrant orange and yellow plinths.
The plinths are adorned with inspiring messages and wrap around the fountain, adding a contemporary twist to the historic site.
Yinka Ilori, a graduate of London Metropolitan University, is celebrated for his multi-disciplinary approach to art and design.
His work, characterized by bold colors and geometric patterns, has been showcased in various exhibitions and public commissions worldwide.
In 2022, he gained attention for creating a community playground in Parsloes Park, Dagenham, infused with his signature vibrant aesthetic.
Ilori’s latest installation at Piccadilly Circus, commissioned by Art of London, will be on display from August 20 to 25, offering Londoners and visitors alike a unique blend of classical mythology and modern design in one of the city’s most famous public spaces.
