
In a coordinated operation, the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with the Joint Task Force (JTF), has dismantled a criminal camp in Ihiala Local Government Area, recovering three unexploded improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two abandoned vehicles, and other dangerous materials.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the raid in a statement issued on Saturday in Onitsha. He revealed that the operation targeted camps located in the Lilu, Mbosi, and Isseke areas, following extensive intelligence gathering.
"The joint security forces, acting on security intelligence, successfully raided a criminal camp and recovered three unexploded improvised explosives," Ikenga stated.
During the operation, the team also seized two abandoned vehicles and a variety of hazardous materials, including copper wires and fuel. The police emphasized the importance of sustaining security efforts to ensure public safety.
Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Itam, has praised the success of the operation and urged security personnel to maintain pressure on criminal elements. He reassured residents of the state's commitment to preventing crime and protecting lives and property.
The raid marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in Anambra State.
