The Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara, will swear in the newly elected local government chairmen today, Sunday, October 6, 2024. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, Port Harcourt, at 4:00 pm.
This development was confirmed in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo. The swearing-in follows the recent local government elections in which the Action Peoples Party (APP) emerged victorious in 22 of the 23 local government areas (LGAs) across the state.
The statement reads, “His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Governor of Rivers State, will today Sunday, October 6, 2024, swear in the newly elected Council Chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, by 4:00 pm."
The newly elected chairmen are required to arrive with one guest each and be seated by 3:30 pm, as they prepare to assume their official duties across the state’s LGAs. This swearing-in ceremony marks an important step in the continuation of local governance across Rivers State.
