The General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has condemned the wrong application of knowledge especially among the youth who engage in internet fraud.
Adeboye on Sunday at the October Thanksgiving and Special Prayer Service for students and government functionaries, tagged,’Divine Wisdom’, held at the National Headquarters, Ebute-metta, Lagos, urged students to devote more time to their studies, instead of social media.
The cleric who emphasised the law of sowing and reaping encouraged individuals to sow righteousness/good works.
He stated: “There are two categories of wisdom, satanic wisdom and divine wisdom. ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ people, they have knowledge but they are using it for evil.”
Hinting on the secret of his academic excellence, Adeboye stated:
“My professor, my Head of Department, Department of Mathematics way back in 1963 told us you have to read the same thing 10 times before you can remember 70 per cent. That’s what he told us. I mean he got his PhD from the University of London in 1928.
“So he knew what he was talking about when you read the first time and you think ‘oh yes’, he said you have to read the same thing 10 times before you can be sure you will remember. 70 per cent of what he said helped people like me.”
He added: “We thought we were brilliant but when the old man told us you must add diligence/hard work to your brain then you will reach the top. We discovered that he was speaking the truth. So my children I will just leave that with you so you stop wasting time, spending all the time on the internet.
“You are sent to the University, you are sent to the colleges you are sent to school to learn there will always be time for everything. The time for studying is when you are young.
“I will keep studying throughout life but there are certain things that you can learn when you are young. Ask the scientist they will tell you there are certain languages you can no longer learn after you have reached a certain age.”
