A young Nigerian woman recently shared her traumatic experience of an attempted assault by a male friend, recounting how a confrontation with him and his associates at a club led to a brutal attack on her and her friend. The woman took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to reveal her story, calling for justice and public support.
In her post, the woman explained that the assault attempt occurred in September. Since then, she has been working with the police to track down her alleged assailant. Despite police involvement, she has continued to encounter him frequently in public. “Bear in mind that I still see this person in clubs, and when he sees me, he’d look me in the eye and throw money in my direction without any shame or remorse,” she wrote.
During one such encounter, the woman decided to confront him. She recounted, “Last night, I saw him again, and he was looking me dead in the eye without remorse. After the party, my friends and I went to our usual late-night spot.” Overcome with emotion, she confronted him, reminding him of the attempted assault. Her friends joined, leading to a heated argument between her group and the alleged assailant’s friends.
According to her account, the situation quickly spiraled out of control. “Long story short, his friend, who was also involved in the attempted rape, punched me until I passed out, and blood came from my mouth and body,” she wrote. “After I was revived by the restaurant staff, I realized they had beaten my friend as well and torn her clothes.”
The alleged attackers, she noted, boasted of political connections, claiming they were untouchable. Despite this, she is determined to tell her story, seeking support and justice. She shared photos and videos of her injuries, urging the public to spread her story widely. “These are some clips showing what was done to me. Please help me get this out there and post their pictures as well,” she appealed.
She ended with a powerful message, underscoring her resolve to seek justice: “I’m sure there are many other cases like this that have been swept under the carpet because of how he parades himself as influential.”
As of now, the authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
