Two Students, Covenant Omolola Isaac & Taiwo Abimbola Tragically Killed In Lokoja Road Accident

Two students have tragically lost their lives in a fatal road accident in Lokoja, Kogi State, on Friday morning. The victims, both female, were killed when a heavily loaded trailer reportedly lost its brakes and collided with a Keke NAPEP, instantly claiming their lives.

According to reports, one of the deceased students was identified as Covenant Omolola Isaac, a student in the Department of Geology at the Federal University Lokoja. The second victim, Abu Taiwo Abimbola, was a student in the Department of Science Laboratory Technology at Kogi State Polytechnic.

The President of the National Association of Science Laboratory and Technology Students, Kogi State Polytechnic chapter, Comrade Akor Caleb Kelvin, confirmed the passing of Abimbola, expressing deep sorrow in a statement. He described her death as a devastating loss, adding, "This tragic event has left us all in shock and mourning."

In remembrance of the deceased, the association plans to hold a tribute and memorial service, with details to be shared soon, inviting students and staff to join in honoring her life.

Kogi State Police Command Spokesman, Williams Aya, also confirmed the incident, stating that the bodies of the students were recovered and taken to a local hospital in Lokoja. The identities of the victims were confirmed through identification cards found at the scene.

This accident marks a heartbreaking incident for the academic community in Lokoja, leaving friends, family, and colleagues in mourning.
