A Nigerian man has recounted the harrowing experience of losing his home to a fire outbreak on December 20, 2024.
In a heartfelt post shared on X (formerly Twitter), he narrated how he received a distressing call while at work, informing him that his house was on fire.
“At about 4:55 p.m., my neighbor called to tell me my house was burning,” he wrote. “I rushed home, only to find the entire compound in ruins. I couldn’t save a single item from my room. All I had left were the clothes on my back.”
The fire, which completely consumed his residence, left him with no possessions and nowhere to stay. Days after the tragedy, the man turned to social media to appeal for assistance.
“Hi everyone,” he posted. “I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share that my house recently burned down, and I lost everything. I’m now in urgent need of funds to secure a new apartment and begin rebuilding my life.”
The emotional plea has since garnered widespread sympathy online, with many users offering prayers and pledging financial support.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but the incident has sparked discussions about fire safety and the need for emergency preparedness in residential areas.
A tragic day I will never forget. Dec 20, 2024.

I went to work, and around 4:55 p.m., my neighbor called to tell me my house was on fire. I ran like a madman, and when I arrived home, the entire compound had collapsed. I did not pick a pin from my room. Please pray for me. pic.twitter.com/pxYtEXoHSl
