Boko-Haram brags of killing 15 Soldiers on a recent attack

     A radical Islamist sect in Nigeria says it has killed 12 soldiers in a firefight overnight in the nation’s northeast, a claim disputed by the country’s military.

A spokesman using the nom de guerre Abul Qaqa told journalists that gunmen from the sect known as Boko Haram ambushed the soldiers Sunday night in Maiduguri. The spokesman said the attack came after the sect beheaded three people three people Saturday night who leaked information about them to authorities.

A military spokesman denied that soldiers were killed, though residents in the area in the area heard a gun battle Sunday night.

Boko Haram is waging an increasingly blood sectarian fight against Nigeria’s weak central government.
