President Goodluck Jonathan is yet to reinstate Salami despite the National Judicial Council’s recommendation for him to do so.
The NJC had recalled Salami, who was suspended on the heels of a disagreement he had with the then Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu over the Sokoto State governorship election case.
Musdapher told the BBC Hausa service that if he had the powers he would have reinstated Salami.
“I do not have anything to say about that issue (of Salami) if you do not have the power there is nothing you could do. If I have powers to reinstate him I would have reinstated him since,” he said
Also yesterday, the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mariam Aloma, in another BBC Hausa interview, ignored a question regarding the fate of Salami.
When asked about she intended to handle Salami saga, she said “This is not within my jurisdiction.” She promised to reinvigorate the judiciary.
