Victor Osimhen has revealed the secret behind the Super Eagles victory against the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.

The three-time champions defeated the hosts 1-0 in a keenly contested encounter at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan on Thursday night.

PAOK Salonica centre-back, William Troost-EKong scored the decisive goal from the spot in the 56th after Osimhen was fouled inside the box.

Osimhen, who was named Man of the Match, said the team’s plan was to take over the midfield.

“It was a difficult game. Cote d’Ivoire is a difficult opponent but we got our tactics right today,” Osimhen told a press conference in Abidjan.

“The plan was to wait for them in midfield and capiltise on their mistakes. Obviously, it worked well for us.

“This is a big win for us and we have to build on this in our next game.”

The Super Eagles’ next game is against the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau.

The encounter will hold at the Felix Houphouet Boigny, Stadium, Abidjan next Tuesday.

I'm a very patriotic Nigerian. I've watched both games involving the team.
I'm sorry, I don't think Nigeria would go far in this competition.
We are not scoring goals and not creating chances.
Victor Osimhen is good player. But they're doubling up on him and taking him out of the games. In that case, we need a very good number 8 and 10 to function properly.  But reverse was the case.
Our front was non existent. Our match against Equatorial Guinea. We managed to equalise through a header from Osimhen.
Against the host nation. We scored via a penalty.
To progress in this competition.  You need your strikers to be firing from all cylinders.
