In a coordinated operation involving Special Forces of Guards Brigade, the Nigeria Police Force, and DSS hunters, four suspected bandits allegedly involved in kidnapping activities within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been apprehended.
The suspects were identified as Yahaya Abubakar, aged 25, residing in Mpape; Mohammed Mohamed, aged 32, a resident of Zuba and a former convict; Umar Aliyu, aged 20, and Nura Abdullahi, aged 32, both residing in Kubwa and Zuba hills respectively.
Confirming the arrests, FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the operation, initiated based on credible intelligence, led to a raid on identified kidnappers' camps at Gidan Dogo and Kweti Forest in Kaduna State, adjacent to the FCT.
During the operation, a confrontation ensued between the suspected bandits and security operatives, resulting in the escape of the criminals and the rescue of their victims.
Adeh stated, "The suspects freely confessed to being members of a notorious bandit syndicate with the name ‘Mai One Million’, responsible for a series of kidnappings and other heinous crimes in FCT and its environs."
The rescued victims have been reunited with their families, marking a significant success in the ongoing battle against criminality in the nation's capital.
Commending the efforts of the security operatives, FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, reiterated the commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents in the FCT.
