A gift is an expression of what someone has been talking with you. We can't just meet people moving and spreading gifts to all Toms, Dicks and Harrys. Those who give to beggars do so in the name of charity and have a target population. Those who give to friends do so in the name of friendship...........
When someone talks love to you and offers you a gift, (s)he does that inthe name of love- depending what type of love involved.
To the receiver, if you do not buy the giver's idea, do not take it. If I know gifts are meant for the poor and I do not identify myself to that category, I simply go my way.
