against Racing Santander on
Wednesday would deal an early
blow to Real Madrid's title
ambitions.
Real suffered a surprise 1-0 loss
at Levante on Sunday, after Sami
Khedira was sent off for the
visitors.
While the Spanish season is still
only three matches old,
Mourinho is well aware too
many dropped points will cost
the team dear as they go in
search of their first La Liga
crown since 2008.
"At the end, these are the points
that make or break a league,"
Mourinho said.
"If we lose three more points
we'll lose six points in two
matches and that's obviously
too many points to lose."
"That's why if we lose
tomorrow even if we play well
it will be a problem. If we lose
points tomorrow even though
there's still a lot of league left I
will be worried."
Real's disciplinary record has
worsened under Mourinho, with
Khedira's dismissal for becoming
involved in a touchline fracas
just the latest example of the
team's increasingly unruly
behaviour.
The Portuguese coach accused
the press of hypocrisy in their
reporting of the incident that
led to the sending off.
He compared it to a similar
confrontation in Spain's friendly
international against Chile earlier
this month, which was
described in the media as a
show of solidarity between Real
and Barcelona players.
