
Authorities from Zone 16 of the Nigeria Police Force have apprehended a man posing as a medical doctor in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Doubara Esamasuode, who operated without a valid medical license, was detained following a detailed investigation.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday by Police Public Relations Officer Emonena Gunn, who emphasized the police’s dedication to maintaining public safety and enforcing the law. Esamasuode was found to be running an illegal medical practice under the name St. Maximilian Medical Centre, situated at Winners Junction in the Etegwe area of Yenagoa.
The operation that led to Esamasuode's arrest was initiated based on reliable intelligence from Assistant Inspector-General of Police Paul Omata. During a subsequent search of the medical center, law enforcement officers recovered several incriminating items, including syringes, various drugs, hospital equipment, and fraudulent documents, such as fake convocation photographs and 200 copies of ultrasound reports.
Esamasuode has admitted to charges including operating as a fake doctor, running an unauthorized medical facility, forgery, and impersonation. The police have vowed to continue their efforts to ensure that such illegal activities are eradicated.
