In a significant operation against arms trafficking, the Kaduna State Police have arrested three suspected gunrunners allegedly transporting a large cache of ammunition to terrorists in the state.

The arrest took place on August 29, 2024, in Dutsinma town, Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State, as disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, during a press briefing at the Katsina police headquarters on Friday.

"Our operatives apprehended three notorious gunrunners while they were attempting to deliver 740 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition to suspected bandits in Yauni forest, Ummadau village, Safana Local Government Area," Aliyu stated. He added that the suspects had transported the ammunition from Nasarawa State, intending to deliver it to a suspected bandit kingpin known as Harisu, who remains at large.

The trio reportedly confessed to their involvement in the arms trade, implicating Harisu as the mastermind behind the operation.

**Three Arrested for Robbing Katsina Resident, Transferring N6 Million Using Stolen Phones**

In a separate incident, three criminal suspects have been arrested in Katsina State after allegedly robbing a resident and transferring N6 million from his bank account using stolen mobile phones.

According to ASP Aliyu, the incident occurred on August 3, 2024, when a three-man gang armed with guns attacked the residence of Ukashatu Isah in Kofar Arewa quarters, Baure Local Government Area. They robbed him of two mobile phones and subsequently used them to transfer a total of N6 million into three different bank accounts.

Following a complaint, police detectives quickly traced and arrested the suspects, who have since confessed to the crime. They are expected to be charged in court soon.

"This operation is a testament to our unwavering commitment to combating banditry, gunrunning, and other criminal activities in Katsina State and beyond," ASP Aliyu affirmed.

The police continue to pursue further suspects involved in these crimes, ensuring that justice is served.
