Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially sworn in the newly elected council chairmen of the 23 local government areas in the state.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Executive Council Chamber of the Government House in Port Harcourt on October 6, 2024.
This event followed the issuance of certificates of return to the chairmen by Adolphus Enebeli, the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, earlier in the day.
The local government chairmen elections were held on Saturday, October 5, amidst heightened political tension.
Following the election results, the Action Peoples Party (APP) secured 22 out of the 23 chairmanship positions, while the Action Alliance (AA) claimed one seat.
