Coup Plan Against Burkina Faso’s 36Yr Old President, Ibrahim Traore Has Been Thwarted

An individual was arrested in Ouagadougou, at the time he was handing over five billion FCFA ($8.2M) in cash to soldiers who pretended to accept his coup plan. By the time he realized that he was being deceived, it was too late.

The money was taken to the Treasury Department. The State says that he is in their custody while they will investigate the source of the funds.

Traore has survived five coup attempts since he took power by force in 2022.
