Thousands of Muslims in Zaria in northern Nigeria have ended Unity Week concurrent with the birthday of the Holy Prophet, Mohammad with a call for a change of attitude among all Muslims across the world.
Unity Week was first initiated by the late Imam Khomeini, Iran's Islamic Republic Founder, with the aim of brining more unity between Shias and Sunnis across the world.
Unity Week in Nigeria has brought together Muslims from all different groups including the Tijaniyya and Qadiriya sects, scholars and human rights advocates. Muslims stood in unity calling for an Islamic republic in Nigeria that will rule in line with Khomeinei's teachings. Peaceful marchers chanted slogans of praise, solidarity and support for the Muslim uprisings in Africa and the Middle East, and demanded an end to the un-Islamic rule in Nigeria.
In his speech after the procession, one of Nigerian Islamic Leader, Sheikh El-Zakzaky said, the unity week as slated by the late Imam Khomeini is indeed a unifying factor among Muslims, and urged Muslims to stand together to chart a right Islamic course for Muslims across the world.
The Sheikh went on to criticize the recent situation in the Middle East, were he says mass movements of people are ousting sit-tight dictators but only end up handing power over to the military apologists of their country. He says he believes military apologists lack the necessary leadership that will benefit their people.
The unity week activities seem to be reminding Muslims irrespective of their difference, the true essence of the message of the Prophet Mohammad, his household, and the need for Islamic revival in their lives.

The way our muslims love to drink beer, I cannot see them instituting sharia law in the real sense of the word. All they can do is to put up a charade like what they have in Zamfara. The political sharia where everybody drift to the army barracks at night and drink till morning.

I wouldn't want to jump into conclusions, so I urge any Muslim pal to kindly clarify all statements in red.....I thought Muslims don't do things (like the unity week) which were NEVER in the Qu'ran or part of the SUNNAH  Huh?........and I thought they had no sect but share a common belief...where does the disagreement lie Huh?....and a call for a change in Muslims' attitude all over the world? Have they been behaving wrongly? And for an Islamic rule in Nigeria according to Komeini's teachings.......not according to Prophet Mohammed's teachings any more? And do they realize Nigeria is not a pure Islamic Nation?.......Is this article authentic?

I wonder how you hope to rule people in the 21st century with some crude and archaic laws from the 7th century.

Whatever... we're watching and waiting. What we want is the best to happen in Nigeria, regardless of what part it came from, Not something useless to the community.
