The Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG), Tayo Oluwatuyi, has died from injuries sustained in a car accident on the Ife-Ibadan Expressway. His passing was confirmed on Saturday morning at an undisclosed hospital, where he had been receiving treatment.
Oluwatuyi, appointed as SSG in January 2024 by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, previously served in the same capacity during the administration of the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Government sources revealed that the accident occurred in December when the vehicle carrying Oluwatuyi veered off the road and plunged into the bush. He was rushed to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife and admitted to the intensive care unit.
Despite efforts by medical professionals, the injuries proved fatal. Oluwatuyi’s death marks a significant loss for the Ondo State government, with colleagues and officials expressing condolences and mourning his passing.
