Tragedy struck Agbarho in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, as two young men in their twenties were found dead under unusual circumstances in a one-room apartment. Their bodies have been deposited at a morgue, pending further investigation by the authorities.
Residents in the area have linked the cause of the deaths to fumes from a generator placed on the apartment’s veranda. According to locals, one of the deceased had rented the apartment and moved in with three friends on January 1st. Shortly after their arrival, neighbors began to notice a foul odor emanating from the apartment, raising concerns about the wellbeing of the tenants.
A source who requested anonymity revealed that the neighbors attempted to make contact with the occupants by knocking on their door, but received no response. Fearing the worst, they called the police. Upon forcing open the door, authorities discovered two lifeless bodies inside the apartment, while two others appeared severely weakened. The survivors were promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
As of the time of reporting, the police have not issued an official statement on the incident. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the deaths, with some speculating the toxic fumes from the generator may have been a contributing factor.
